The surrealist artist, Salvador Dali’s genius is said to have been inspired by the rugged beauty of the north-eastern tip of Catalonia, specifically at the rock of Cullero on the Cap de Creus. He was not alone. Spain’s ‘wild coast’ inspired many of the world’s great artists Picasso, Magritte and Miró as well as writers like Gabriel Garcia Marques and Paul Eluard, who all fell under the spell of the tranquil, sugar cube towns and the mesmerizing blue of the Mediterranean Sea.
